She earned a Bachelor's Degree in English from The University of Iowa in 2002 and immediately became a...banker. After working finance for ten years, Christa decided to marry her expertise in numbers with her love of writing; she earned her Grant Writing Certificate and wrote grants for start-up non-profits for one year. While dipping her toes in grant writing, Christa discovered that her love of fiction writing could actually pay the bills, and she ghost wrote two novels, a screenplay, and five picture books while also writing and editing for small companies around the world. Christa has lived with Type 1 diabetes for 32 years, and she enjoys exploring how aspects of her experiences with ableism due to her chronic illness/disability can connect to readers, particularly in her very own first novel, "Jorie's Story"
